Real American Beauty | Episode 1 South Central, LA

In this series directed by Liza Mandelup, we explore the very different faces of American beauty today. From the picket-fenced suburbia of Long Island to the pastel-coloured storefronts of Miami, we examine the transformative powers of a hairstyle, and the cultural meanings that come with it. Braided, curled, flat-ironed, whipped back and forth, in the first episode we travel to South Central, Los Angeles, for the cheapest and best weave in town, and where we meet the women of Mr & Mrs Salon for whom a trip to the hairdressers is about so much more than just hair.

lawd. I can't knock what people define as beautiful, but I can say none of these styles are conducive to a healthy head of hair or healthy self esteem Your replacements have already won a psychological war where they are trying to convince you that you are ugly. Be blessed. The hair looks good, but the mentality is rooted in your defeat. Peace.
